Jena started line dancing in 2006 when she attended her first lesson at Coyote Joes in Shelby Twp MI. It wasn’t long until she would fill in as sub and in early 2007 took over full-time where she had her first lesson. One night of dancing wasn’t enough and Jena found herself adding teaching nights each week at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and then at Overtyme in Waterford MI where she continues to teach each Wednesday. 2022 presented a partnership with The HUB Stadium Novi to offer monthly Friday dance parties! As excitement grew in the area a new weekly class emerged spotlighting instructor Jordan “Boot Scootin’” Billet. Spreading the love for line dance, Jena enjoys teaching in many capacities from her weekly classes, 1-1 private lessons, corporate events, even large festivals/fairs such as Faster Horses Festival in Brooklyn MI where she has instructed since 2017. Jena loves to choreograph as well! She has had the honor of working with many local musician friends including RJ Harper, Rob Stone (What I got) and The Family Tradition Band (Whiskey Shakedown). Some of her more well-known choreography includes Last Night (w/ co choreographer Jordan “Boot Scootin’” Billet), Southbound, Creek Will Rise and Halfway to Hell.

He fell in love and started attending weekly classes with Phyllis Manier where he was given his first opportunity to teach and fell in love with helping others learn dances that he had used as an outlet. Jordan started to travel to many of the local bars and bigger ones across the nation to further his line dance repertoire. Nicole started Kickin' In The Mitten LLC. 7 years ago. Taking it from 6 dancing every other Monday night, to there now over 3,000 in the Kickin' In The Mitten community dancing 7 days a week with 3 instructors. Classes range from public lessons, open dance nights, and all sorts of private events. Nicole says that "As much as I love watching Kickin grow, my favorite part is watching the dancers learn and grow. The moment the dancer "gets it" is gold to me, and that's what it's all about for me. I actually swore I'd never dance again after I quit dancing after 5th grade, and I also failed business management in college, not once, but twice. Along with failing 6th grade band. I never would have imagined that I run a dance/dj business now. But it's more than I ever could have dreamed of. Watching others grow and evolve, the connections made, and watching my evolution in teaching skills grow also has been so rewarding."
